During July 10-12 Rev. Stewart and Rev. Ayers attended the Nashville, Tennessee event as presenters as well as participants. Rev. Stewart conducted a workshop entitled “How to Give Your Testimony and Not Look Like a Dummy.” Rev. Ayers led a workshop entitled “The Art of Young Adult Ministry-A Creative Look at a Difficult Problem.” They gathered much knowledge from outstanding speakers and musicians.Troy stated , “I realized how fortunate we are to have a young adult ministry at Hartwell First because other churches are seeking what we have.”
July 26th at 5:00 PM join us at the lake lot for some preaching, communion, singing, and baptism in the lake. The Methodist men will provide the fish,chicken and the drinks. We ask that you bring a summer salad or a dessert to share. We’ll have fun and fellowship. So ya’ll come, ya hear?
Those who are interested in acolyte training are asked to come Wednesday, August 19 at 4:30 in the church sanctuary. You must be a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grader. Contact Mrs. Caren Rice at 376-2221 or the church office at 376-3164 if you have any questions.
On June 5th through June 7th children from HFUMC participated in VBS. The theme was Crocodile Rock…Where Fearless Kids Shine God’s Life. Over 200 kids and adults participated. Some of our activities were:
- live music with the praise team
- arts and crafts
- recreation and cookout
- classroom time
Marcie Garringer stated, “We love having Vacation Bible School over the course of a weekend. It is easier to get volunteers when parents don’t have to work on the weekend.Everybody had a great time and can’t wait until next year!”

We would like to welcome our new organist, Bruce Herring, his wife, Debbie, and 2 sons, Daniel and Tyler. Bruce comes to us with more than 35 years experience in church
music. Currently he is the Assistant Executive Director of the Elberton Housing Authority in Elberton. It is a blessing to have Bruce and his family join us at Hart FUMC.
