The Missions / Habitat Critical Home Repair Project was completed on Saturday, Nov. 12, thanks to all the volunteers from our church and from Hart County’s Habitat for Humanity! See slideshow below to view “before and after” shots of the house (“before” photos were taken October 7 when church volunteers began working, which was after Habitat volunteers had “wrapped’ the house). Church volunteers worked on Saturdays with a crew chief from Habitat (many thanks to Lou Horvath and Cherry Reeve for doing this!), and retired Habitat volunteers worked on Thursdays.
The volunteers in the group photo on line five of the photos are (left to right) “Hutch” Hutchinson, myself, Mark Stone, Dale David, Doug Blomberg, Traci Mason, Cherry Reeve, Bob Athens, Dorothy (“DJ”) Dougherty, and Tammy Hutchinson. Shown in a couple of work shots is Lynn Floyd (yellow shirt), in the photo to the right of the group are the home owners Van and Nadine Hunnicutt, and next to them are two pictures of the dinner table where we enjoyed Nadine’s awesome cooking! The two photos to the right of the table are of volunteers Ben Moore and Greg Floyd, respectfully, who worked the last Saturday. The first photo on line six shows some of the Thursday Habitat volunteers (left to right) John O’Neill, Lou Horvath, Robert Ray, and Happy Crittendon. Other Habitat volunteers who worked on Thursdays (not pictured) were Joe Brown, Randy Cauthen, Joe Driscoll, and Wayne Grice.
We will be planning another project in the spring. Many thanks again to all of you who volunteered!
2012 God’s Creation Calendars are being sold again this year for $6.00 each. Money from the sales will go to Missions and their many projects. With Christmas being less than 2 months away, these beautiful calendars would make great inspirational gifts or stocking stuffers.
Drop by the church office and we will be glad to sell you as many as you want!
We returned to Stone Mountain for the Wesley Walk Saturday, October 22, 2011 with five walkers, counting Dale & Cindie David’s dog, “Poppy”. (The four “people” walkers were the Davids, Jim Kesler, and me.) Our congregation raised $500 for this year’s walk, and Jim Kesler was the walker who raised the most money ($200) thanks to the donations from him and his John Holland Sunday School Class. Thanks also to the United Methodist Men for a donation of $150.00, and to all the individual donors who supported us this year. Jim Kesler finished the entire Walk, walking in memory of his wife, Sue who coordinated the Wesley Walk with Jim during the late 1980’s through 1991. In addition, many thanks to Dale and Cindie David for (Dale) driving Cindie’s car to Stone Mountain and getting us back to Hartwell safely.
“[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn […]
