Start the New Year with a new Ministry

The Safety Team needs at least 12 more volunteers

For our Safety Team to be more efficient, and not overwork anyone, they need at least 12 more volunteers.

This is an important job, and not too time-consuming if we can get enough people.

Please consider volunteering.

Contact Alan Brown, Chairman of the Safety Committee.

New Whitworth Backpack Ministry Beginning January 1st

When women are released from prison after serving their sentence, they are picked up by family or they are put on a bus to go to wherever they live.

Sometimes these women have a 24-hour journey, and some of them end up in a homeless shelter.

The women that are put on the bus will be our focus.

When they leave, they only get a set of clothing.

With this in mind, our new ministry will be to provide the women being put on a bus with a backpack filled with items that are specific to their needs.

We have a list of items below that we will need:

  • Toothbrush / Toothpaste
  • Hand wipes / Sanitizer (small size)
  • Travel size shampoo / conditioner
  • Wrapped roll of toilet paper
  • Paper / Notebook / Pen
  • Puzzle / Game book
  • Deodorant
  • Comb / brush
  • Tampons and/or pads
  • Small packs of tissues
  • Non-perishable snacks
  • $15 fast food gift cards

Currently, we have 30 backpacks. So, we will need back-packs too.

We have no way of knowing how many bags will be needed or when.

It depends on the number of girls released and put on a bus.

Please bring these items to Molly in the church office.

She will fix the bags and get them to Whitworth.

They will let her know when they are running low so she can restock.

This will be an ongoing ministry …

as long as ladies are being released, we will provide backpacks.

Thank you for all of your continued support of our Prison Ministry!!
