Rome, Day 2!
Another wonderful day in Rome! We drove into the city early this morning. I really enjoyed viewing the city during the ride. SO MANY PEOPLE!!! We walked around the city to acquaint ourselves a bit, had lunch at a wonderful Trattoria, then went to the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum. . I don’t have enough words to describe what I saw today…what we ALL saw! When we entered the Colosseum (through the Emperor’s entrance) the first thing we saw was a cross! The local tour director told us that the cross had only been there for about 3 years. It was placed there because the grounds have been consecrated by the Pope to remember all the Christians who died there. The immensity of the place just boggles the mind! Then to walk through the Forum and see all the remains of the senate house and the church that is believed to be the prison where Peter and Paul were held. Everyone spoke in such hushed tones…we just couldn’t help it! We had a wonderful, yet exhausting day!
Tomorrow we will have an early “wake up” call so we can leave for our tour of Vatican City. Tomorrow evening we will have a night tour of the city…we have been told that it is absolutely beautiful!!
Everyone is well…these young people are WONDERFUL…smart, funny, and trying to learn everything they can while here! I’m pretty sure Colin and Clay haven’t stopped talking since we left Atlanta! Oh, the STORIES they have told…and “acted out”! Absolutely hilarious!!!
Please continue to pray for us!
Peace,
Lynne
